PEELING

Solution

 

 

 

Abrade the damaged parts and make feather edges;

 

if the peeling is severe, clean off original film and re-spray.

 

RUNS AND SAGS

Description
Uneven spraying or excessive film thickness leads to runs and sages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reasons

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Insufficient interval of time between spraying of coat.

 

2. Leakage of airbrush.

 

3. Improper spraying.

 

4. Improper selection or excess use of thinner.

 

5. Improper operation of airbrush.

 

6. Insufficient cleaning of spraying surface.

 

 

 

 

Solution

 

 

Wash the area where runs and sag appear then wait till it dry and start polish process;

for serve defect, remove the coating and re-spray.

UNEVEN SILVER POWDER

Silver powder wrinkles, pan-colored with patterns.
Description
Silver powder or pearls appear floating and stacked without flattening.

 

 

 

 

 

Reasons

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Improper selection of thinner.

 

2. Excess moisture on spraying surface.

 

3. Low spraying temperature and high humidity.

 

4. Improper operation of airbrush.

 

5. Uneven mixture pf pigments.

 

 

 

Solution

 

 

 

After using 800#-1000# water sand sanding,

repaint the two sides of the paint. If it is sprayed with clear coat,

it is found that the varnish is completely dry and then repainted.

 

CRACK

Checking; crazing.
Description
Like a dry riverbed; it is usually seen in the finishing coat and also appears in the primer.

 

 

 

 

 

Reasons

 

 

 

 

 

1. Excess film thickness.

 

2. Mismatch between different paint layers .

 

3. Too cold or too hot environment for spraying.

 

4. Too much 2K paint or lack of hardener .

5. Uneven mixture of paint.

 

 

Solution

 

 

Wait till is dry and remove the powder coating until the sprayed surface is smooth,

generally, remove the power coating till the metal or putty is exposed and then.

 

ORANGE PEEL

Pock-marking; poor flow and leveling.

 

Description

 

 

 

The surface of the paint film resembles

water waves in a mild case while in a severe case, the skin of an orange.

Solutions

 

 

Polish the surface of the film with 1500#-2000# sandpaper.

 

WRINKLE

Description

Wrinkles appear in the process of spraying

of new paint or 30 minutes after spraying of cleat coat.

 

 

 

 

 

Reasons

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Poor resistance to clear coat of substrate.

 

2. Improper selection of slow-drying solvent.

 

3. Insufficient flash-off time.

 

4. Excess film thickness and old cured film that is not dried thoroughly.

 

5. Selection of matching coating system.

 

 

Solution

 

Wash or abrade substrate and re-spray.
